Dr. Xiaonan Zhang’s research team received the Best Paper Runner-Up Award at the 2026 IEEE/ACM Conference on Connected Health: Applications, Systems and Engineering Technologies (CHASE 2026) for the paper “Longitudinal Behavioral Change Coaching with Multi LLM Agents: Multi-Scale Summaries and Automated Dialogue Steering.” Led by her Ph.D. student Hansong Zhou, the work develops a multi-agent large language model framework for longitudinal behavioral change coaching.

Longitudinal Behavioral Change Coaching with Multi LLM Agents: Multi-Scale Summaries and Automated Dialogue Steering

The system enables AI-based coaching to maintain and use information across repeated interactions, supporting more personalized and consistent behavioral guidance over time. The project involved undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Science and was conducted with mentorship from Dr. Bonnie Spring from the College of Medicine and Dr. Hongyu Miao from the College of Nursing.

IEEE/ACM CHASE 2026 received 117 submissions, of which 24 were accepted as regular papers, representing an acceptance rate of approximately 20.5%. The Best Paper Runner-Up Award was selected through the conference’s double-blind review process, with only one paper receiving this distinction.
