Main Memory Terms
  • DRAM - Dynamic Random Access Memory
    • Unlike SRAM, data must be written back after being read.
    • DRAM requires that the data be refreshed periodically.
  • Access time - time between when a read is requested and the desired word arrives
  • Cycle time - minimum time between requests to memory
  • Row Access Strobe (RAS) - half the address is sent first here
  • Column Access Strobe (RAS) - next half of the address is sent
