The CS@FSU Artificial Intelligence Concentration provides students with a focused pathway to develop foundational knowledge and practical skills in one of the fastest-growing areas of computing. Designed for computer science students, the concentration combines core principles of artificial intelligence with modern machine learning techniques, data management, software development, and computing infrastructure.
Students begin with a broad introduction to artificial intelligence before advancing to deep learning and emerging AI applications such as large language models (LLMs), agentic systems, and applied data science projects. Complementary coursework in software development, computer systems, secure and parallel computing, and database technologies ensures that graduates not only understand AI algorithms but also possess the engineering and technical skills required to develop, deploy, and support AI-enabled systems in real-world environments.
The concentration emphasizes the fundamental concepts that underpin modern AI technologies, including intelligent systems, machine learning, data-driven decision making, and computational infrastructure. This balanced approach prepares students to contribute to AI-related projects across a wide range of industries while providing a strong foundation for continued study in advanced topics in a rapidly evolving field of computer science.
