David Whalley, Sonia Haiduc, and Andy Wang have received a $120K NSF supplement award to support Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) in the FSU Computer Science Department. The goal is to increase the number of graduate and undergraduate FSU CS students who are women or from other underrepresented groups through five major efforts for targeted students: (1) meeting with UG students about the merits of getting a CS graduate degree, (2) contacting prospective CS students who have been admitted to FSU, (3) promoting a CS minor or a double major in CS for current FSU non-CS majors, (4) visiting high schools to promote the FSU CS UG degree, and (5) improving the retention of current CS students. These efforts align with the proposed FSU CS Department BPC plan.
