Course description and objectives
This is a research seminar type of class where students will be exposed
to the current research advanced in the interconnection networks area.
The objective is to bring the student up-to-speed in
research in the Interconnection Networks for High Performance Computing
clusters and cloud computing data centers.
After this course, the students should be able to :
- Understand research issues and current research proposals
     in the interconnection networks area
 - Write simulators at different levels for interconnection networks
 - Perform research in interconnection networks.

Course materials Most course materials are papers in
recent (2015, 2014, 2013) top-tier conferences in this area.
Introductory materials may be from tutorials in various websites.
Prerequisite
- It is not official. But if you do not have at least one of
COP5570 (Concurrent, Parallel, and Distributed Programming),
CNT5505 (Data and Computer Communications), and CDA5125
(Introduction to Parallel and Distributed Systems), you should not
     take this class.

Grading
The students will be required to read research papers before
classroom discussion and write short critics. There will be incremental
coding assignments that lead to a functional interconnect simulator.
Homework may be assigned occasionally.
Students in this class should form groups of two people and discuss between
the two for all discussions, homework, and assignments.
Each student is required to present at least one paper.
- 10% - homework, assignments, critics

- 40% - classroom participation

- 5% - classroom presentation

- 40% - course project

- 5% - final exam (a critic)

Final letter grade will be assigned based on the relative performance.
University Attendance Policy
Excused absences include documented illness, deaths in the family and other
documented crises, call to active military duty or jury duty, religious
holydays, and official University activities. These absences will be
accommodated in a way that does not arbitrarily penalize students who
have a valid excuse. Consideration will also be given to students whose
dependent children experience serious illness.
Academic Honor Code
The Florida State University Academic Honor Policy outlines the University's
expectations for the integrity of students' academic work, the procedures
for resolving alleged violations of those expectations, and the rights and
responsibilities of students and faculty members throughout the process.
Students are responsible for reading the Academic Honor Policy and for living
up to their pledge to "...be honest and truthful and...[to] strive for
personal and institutional integrity at Florida State University."

Americans with Disabilities Act
Students with disabilities needing academic accommodation should:
(1) register with and provide documentation to the Student Disability
Resource Center; and (2) bring a letter to the instructor indicating
the need for accommodation and what type. This should be done during
the first week of class. This syllabus and other class materials are
available in alternative format upon request. For more information about
