Group size: 2 people

Type of projects: 
  Survey: find one (small) area and found out what people have done
          in the area. 
          5 papers minimum, at least 2 in 2012, 2013, or 2014.

          Examples:
            - architecture-aware communication optimizations
            - recent development of auto-tuner
            - Some specific graph algorithms on HPC (e.g. breadth-first search)
            - recent advanced in checkpointing large scale HPC applications
            - Works on HPC with mobile chips

  Software: Finding interesting application parallelize the application.
            - GPU or MPI implementations of XXX algorithm.
            - modeling and simulation of some interesting, new in some aspect
              routing schemes

  Research: propose and validate research ideas. E.g new collective 
            communication schemes for Intel Phi architecture.
