Final Projects

The Pleasant language package

You may take your choice of any of these three final projects for modifying the above "Pleasant" language package:

• Replace only the parser using Lemon (reasonably challenging but should not take an undue amount of time once you understand Lemon.)
• Replace the entire compiler with a Python or Perl implementation (reasonably challenging since you have to replace the Unicode lexer.)
• Replace the entire compiler with a D implementation (reasonably challenging, but C and D are very closely related.)
• Replace the C back-end with pure x86_64 back-end (challenging, 5 points of extra credit for the semester for successful completion.)
• Replace the C back-end with LLVM 8 or 9 back-end (very challenging, but 10 points of extra credit for the semester (i.e., one entire letter grade) for successful completion.)

Please submit your final project by 11:59pm on December 6 on Canvas; your file should be a complete tar file. Please include a "README.txt" that explains which option you chose, and any explanatory material that you feel would be helpful.
