User Services is the primary end user computer support department within OTI and is responsible for the computer Help Desk, technical support of workstations and departmental servers, training (via short courses) and management of campus-wide software site licenses. ** 7/96 - 8/99 ** Assistant in Research ** Florida State University ** Computer Science Department My responsibilities include Systems Administration for the department-wide computing resources, undergraduate teaching, and management of the System group. This includes membership on the Equipment Committee and community-service related activities. Computing equipment includes Sun workstations and servers running Solaris and SunOS, a Cisco router and Ethernet switch, PCs running Windows NT 4.0 and Linux. ** 3/94 - 7/96 ** Assistant in Research ** Florida State University ** Supercomputer Computations Research Institute My primary responsibility is the technical management of the computer systems at SCRI. This includes acquisition, installation, systems administration, and management of the computer systems, as well as management of the support staff. The computer systems include IBM RS/6000s, HP RISC workstations, an IBM SP-2, DEC Alpha RISC compute and file servers, and a Connection Machine CM-2. Additional duties include teaching responsibilities for undergraduate courses in the Computer Science department. ** 11/89 - 3/94 ** Coordinator, Computer System Controller ** Florida State University Computing Center My primary responsibility is the continual software administration on the FSU Cray Y-MP/432. These tasks include software installation of UNICOS, configuration, performance monitoring, and operations support. Other duties include basic UNIX administration on a variety of platforms, such as Sun workstations, DECstation 5000s, and IBM RS/6000s. I also provide administration support in technical consultation of campus-wide issues relating to network and UNIX-based services. ** 8/86 - 11/89 ** Technical Consultant ** ETA Systems / Control Data Corporation ** Florida State University My experience within ETA Systems / Control Data is the result of two separate assignments within the company. The first year of employment was spent in St. Paul, Minnesota in the Software Development group, where I worked with the User Environment Team, responsible for the design and implementation of operating system features. After assignment on-site at FSU, I am responsible for hardware and software technical support for the ETA-10 supercomputer. These tasks include installation and configuration of UNIX System V.3 and the ETA proprietary operating system. Skills developed that are necessary to support the customer's environment include expert use of Apollo workstations and the Aegis Domain I/X environment and Sun workstations running Sun OS and the X Window System. ** 11/83 - 8/86 ** Associate in Computer Applications ** College of Engineering ** University of South Florida My duties include the adminstration of personnel and equipment associated with the Control Data Cyber 170-730 mainframe and Digital VAX 11/750 minicomputers installed in the College. These adminstrative tasks include management of five full-time operations and technical personnel, training of part-time and full-time computer personnel, overview of equipment acquisition and coordination of installation procedures for both hardware and software upgrades. Another responsibility is the maintenance and needed modification of the Network Operating System and associated product sets, especially the welfare of the PLATO computer-based educational subsystem. Another primary duty is the management of the Berkeley 4.2 UNIX system on the VAX 11/750s within the College, including the day-to-day necessary system administrator duties, installation of UNIX applications from other sites, upkeep of the USENET Mail and News network (UUCP), the pruning of the filesystem, and other duties related to the maintenance of a user population on UNIX. Provision of computer consultation to the faculty and adminstration of the College is among the list of duties performed. Additional duties include technical and training support for MS-DOS based microcomputers in the College, including consulting in dBase II/III, LOTUS 1-2-3, WordStar, MultiPlan, Condor, assembly language and most higher level languages, such as FORTRAN, Pascal and C. ** 10/82 - 11/83 ** Adminstrative and Professional position of Computer Software Specialist IV ** Florida State University Computing Center ** Systems Development Group My duties include continual upkeep of the PLATO subsystem on the Cyber 170-730, along with software support of both the Cyber 730 and the Cyber 760. Tasks include PLATO cut installations, Network Operating System (NOS) modifications and familiarization, support with Network Host Products on both machines, and training as needed to both the Operations and PLATO staff. ** 2/82 - 10/82 ** Systems Analyst I, State Career Service ** Florida State University Computing Center ** Systems Development Group My duties include continual upkeep of the PLATO subsystem on the Cyber 730 via courseware installations, software release conversions, tape work, and PLATO cut installations along with familiarization of the Network Operating System (NOS) which runs on both the Cyber 730 and 760. Tasks also include development of local modifications to the NOS software and PLATO software. ** 6/81 - 2/82 ** Computer Programmer II, State Career Service ** Florida State University Computing Center ** PLATO Services Group My duties include continuing to write and debug system utilities. Other responsibilities include courseware installations, software release conversions, tape work, management of student programmers, teaching of seminars on the PLATO subsystem, and on-line consulting of users. ** 7/79 - 6/81 ** Programmer / Software Consultant ** Florida State University Computing Center ** PLATO Services Group My duties include writing and debugging programs that are tailored to the needs of users of FSU PLATO. I also assist in the upgrading and maintenance of the PLATO system. Degree earned was a Bachelor of Science, with a GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. [9/82 - 11/83] Attended Florida State University, completed 12 hours of graduate courses in Computer Science before transferring. [9/84 - 8/88] Attended the University of South Florida, earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science with a GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale. [9/89 - 3/92] Attended Florida State University, completed 34 hours of graduate courses as well as passing the Doctoral Preliminary Exam.
