Introduction

In the COP5025-1 course on Programming Language Foundations the main subject of study are programming languages. The course does not attempt to teach any one programming language, but rather introduces advanced techniques to describe and analyze them accurately. Among the topics covered are: grammars and syntax, static semantics, lambda calculus, denotational semantics, and axiomatic semantics.

The main textbook on this course is The Study of Programming Languages by Ryan Stansifer.

Exercises from the textbook will be assigned as homework on a regular basis. The assignments are intended for learning purposes and as preparation for the tests.
