Scientific Visualization, Order-Disorder Transitions, and Br Electrodeposited on Ag(100) Steven Mitchell Department Physics Florida State University Abstract: In everyday life, there are many examples of systems which undergo disorder to order transitions. Some common examples are the freezing/melting point of water and the magnetic alignment of magnetic media including those used for hard drives. As an example of disorder to order transitions, I will present the results of extensive computer simulations of Br electrodeposited onto silver single crystals. No prior knowledge of such systems or phenomena will be assumed, and I will present a variety of scientific visualizations on the CSIT Powerwall. The Powerwall component will include an experimental interface being developed at CSIT by Gordon Erlebacher using a PDA with wireless ethernet connection. The use of scientific visualization to better understand simulations of physical effects will be demonstrated throughout.
