Specification of Academic Honor Code Violations

  1. Submitting your homework is an assertion that it is entirely yours. If you get help, say so. Include a cover page on written work saying who helped you, and how. You are allowed to receive general help from classmates (but not detailed solutions). You are allowed to use software you find on the Internet, but you must document its use.

  2. For software, list any help you received and put it in a "README" file in your program directory. Also note, at the beginning of any source code, the help you received. For example, if you use sample code from the instructor, say so in your program and in the README file.

  3. For prose, cite any sources that contributed to your writing, including those found on the Web. Put quotations marks around text you copy.

  4. Violations of these guidelines constitutes plagiarism. First offense: failing grade on the assignment. Second offense: failing grade in the course.
