An Ada Benchmark Program

• timeit.adb : an Ada program to measure execution time demand of another program, similar to the assignment for this course. The approach is as follows.
  • Poll clock values continually
  • When the clock appears to jump, assume thread has been preempted
  • Add up all the time intervals, except those in which there is a preemption
    (For preempted intervals, just estimate execution time as one clock-read operation)
• intervals.dat : input file, that defines the time interval lengths and number of trials to perform for each length
• Makefile : to build the program
• pentium_cycle_counter.ads : interface to read the Pentium hardware cycle counter
• pentium_cycle_counter.adb : implementation of the above
• run.sh : shell program to run a test
