Labeling Your Diagrams
When you create a schematic diagram, it is very useful to label different portions
of the diagram to it easier to understand. There are numerous techniques for
labeling your diagrams, including:
You can also comment your blocks, as described in "Adding Comments to a
Block".
To label a diagram using free text:
- Click on the background of a workspace, and select
KB Workspace > New Free Text.
- Select
free-text to insert text with a border, or select borderless-free-text to insert text with a border.
- Enter the text in the G2 editor.
You can include any character, including spaces. You do not need to enter quotation marks.
- Press Return to attach the text to the mouse cursor, and click to place it on the workspace.
This is the result of entering free text and borderless free text.
You can also change the color of the free text by using the color menu choice.
To label an object by using its name:
- Click on any object to display its table.
- Select
name to display the G2 editor.
- Enter the name of the object and press Return.
Note: G2 names cannot contain spaces; by convention, G2 names contain
hyphens in place of spaces.
The name appears below the object in upper case.
- To move the name, simply drag the text to a new location.
- To change the name, click on the text and enter a new name.
This figure shows the result defining a name for a Numeric Entry Point.
Note: You also name a block to create a rule or procedure that refers to a specific
block.
To hide the name:
To change the default fonts used for text:
- Click on the background of the G2 window to display the Main Menu.
- Select
System Tables > Fonts to display the fonts menu, as shown.
- Edit the font size of any of these attributes.
The options are: small, large, and extra-large.
For example, to use a smaller font size for comments, change Font-for-attribute-
displays to small.
