handler: A G2 procedure that provides object-oriented communication and error handling at the appropriate level in the class hierarchy and on the appropriate window. You implement object-oriented communications handling by using the G2 Foundation Resources (GFR) module. You implement object-oriented error handling directly in G2.

hash table: A internal mechanism that maps the value of an indexed attribute to the object in which it occurs, which provides rapid search capabilities of objects based on attribute value.

hierarchy: See class hierarchy, module hierarchy, or workspace hierarchy.

hierarchical view: A detailed view of an object, which you implement by creating a subworkspace for the object. Hierarchical views represent one way of implementing information hiding.

HTTP: The protocol that enables communication with the World Wide Web (WWW) from a G2 application.

HyperText Markup Language (HTML): A standard markup language that describes text formats used on the World Wide Web (WWW). The GOLD utility allows you to view online documentation in HTML format through any Web browser.
