About Our Funds
Computer Science General Development Fund
The Computer Science General Development Fund was created to provide general support for our department in a variety of areas. The fund has most recently been used for providing lunch for invited speakers, refreshments for the departmental colloquium series, and for meetings of the faculty and graduate teaching assistants. Other uses of the fund in the past include funding for travel, supplies, and equipment expenses for the use of graduate students; the purchase of audio equipment for classroom use; and, emergency loans for graduate students.
E.P. Miles Color Art Fellowship
The purpose of the E.P. Miles fund is to provide financial support to undergraduate/graduate students demonstrating academic achievement/excellence in computer science.
Harris Corporation Endowment
The Harris Fund provides scholarships to exceptional college students who will work with Harris personnel as the Harris Corporation Interns and support for the Harris Faculty Associates who will work alongside the student interns and Harris personnel; making outstanding contributions to the industry and to the education of our young people.
IBM Faculty Partnership Award
This IBM Faculty Partnership Award is intended to support the research of K. A. Gallivan in high-performance computing applied to large-scale application problems. This work includes basic algorithm research, as state-of-the-art methods for model reduction of large systems of differential equations, and efficient representation and reconstruction of large collections of data, e.g., text, images, state observations.
MCI Telecommunications Corporate Endowment
The MCI Fund provides financial support for outstanding gifted students majoring in computer science with an interest in telecommunications; candidates should have a 3.0 overall GPA, a 3.5 major GPA, 12 hours minimum at FSU, have junior or senior status, & have successfully completed programming I & II, as well as Discrete Math.
SAIT Lab Fund
The Security and Assurance in Information Technology (SAIT) Lab Fund provides support for the SAIT research lab. FSU is an NSA Center of Excellence. For more information, please click here .
Carl & Emine Owenby SS-Comp Sic
Carl & Ermine Owenby Endowed Scholarship-Computer Science To provide scholarships to undergraduate & graduate computer science students at FSU. Recipients must be residents of Florida and U. S. Citizens and must demonstrate financial need.
Mainline Info Sys End Prof
Mainline Information Systems Endowed Professorship Earnings will support a professorship in the Department of Computer Sciences within the College of Arts & Sciences. Deserving faculty will be nominated by a member of the faculty, including department chairs, or by a student; the recipient will be recommended by a faculty committee and approved by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. The committee will be made up of faculty members who are distinguished math and science researchers and faculty members who may or may not be in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Dean will appoint the members of the committee. The recipient of the professorship in the Department of Computer Science will hold the award for a three (3) year period. A recipient is eligible for nomination for additional terms following the process above.
