Application Requirements

Majors

• COMPUTER SCIENCE (MS AND PHD)
• INFORMATION SECURITY (MS)
• SOFTWARE ENGINEERING (MS) *Only offered at Panama City campus

***INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CANNOT APPLY FOR THE SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MAJOR. THE PANAMA CITY CAMPUS DOES NOT HAVE AUTHORIZATION FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY TO ISSUE I-20'S.

For the above listed majors and degree levels, the following supporting documents are required. Please be sure to upload the documents in the Supporting Document page of the Online Application. Failure to include the required documents will cause a delay in the decision process of your application.

1. Statement of Purpose

The Statement of Purpose should be no more than two pages. Please include the following information in your statement of purpose:

• Statement of interests and reason for wanting to attend Florida State University

Please upload as DOCUMENT 1 in the Supporting Documents page of the Online Application.

2. Resume/Curriculum Vitae

Please include the following information in your resume:

• List any academic honors
• List any computer related course work and/or experience and all the programming languages that you know.
• List any teaching experience
• For international students, please describe your training and experience with English

Please upload as DOCUMENT 2 in the Supporting Documents page of the Online Application.

3. Photocopies of Transcripts and GRE/TOEFL Scores

• Please scan and upload (if possible) your transcripts and GRE and TOEFL (if applicable) scores. Please scan into one application and upload as one document.

Please upload as DOCUMENT 3 in the Supporting Documents page of the Online Application.

**Please note that you will still need to send official transcripts to the office of admissions and you still need to request ETS to send your official test scores to the university (institution code 5219).

4. Indication of Financial Support.

If you would like to apply for an assistantship, you DO NOT need to upload any information in DOCUMENT 4. You will automatically be considered for an assistantship within our department. However, if you already have another source of funding, or you would like to apply as a part-time student, please indicate this in writing and upload the information into DOCUMENT 3 of the Online Application.

5. Three Letters of Recommendation.

Three recommendations are required. Recommenders MUST provide letters ONLINE . Please include your recommenders email address and required information in the recommendation page of the online application.

Failure to include the required documents will cause a delay in the decision process of your application.
