Checklist for Liberal Studies with Computer Science as a Major

  1. English - six credits: ENC 1101 and any other English course
  2. Math - six credits
  3. History - three credits
  4. Social Sciences - three credits
  5. Humanities/Fine Arts - three credits
  6. Literature - three credits
  7. History/Social Science/Humanities and/or Fine Arts - an additional six credits
  8. Must have a total of eight Gordon Rule classes: two in English, two in Math, and four in any other History/Social Science/Humanities and/or Fine Arts area.
  9. Take one class designated with an X (cross-cultural studies).
  10. Take one class designated with a Y (diversity in western experience).
  11. Natural Sciences - seven credits from approved list for CS majors
  12. Oral Competency (Speech) - three credits
  13. Complete at least Level III of a foreign language class.
  14. Pass the CLAST by the end of the Sophomore year (or be exempted).
Note: steps 8, 9, and 10 may be combined with steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
