Application for CNSA and Software Engineering Master's Tracks

The Department of Computer Science offers a limited enrollment in professional masters degree programs in Computer and Network System Administration (the CNSA major) and in Software Engineering (the SE major). To be eligible for admission to these majors, the student must first meet the admission requirements for the Computer Science major and then be admitted to the CNSA or SE by the area Oversight Committee, a faculty committee. Admission into the CNSA and SE majors is selective and limited. The limited selection is made by each area's Oversight Committee, based on qualifications of students and availability of resources.

To be considered for admission to the CNSA or SE major, a person must either already have been accepted to the graduate program in computer science, or the person must concurrently submit a separate application for admission to the graduate program in computer science, including letters of recommendation, GRE scores, and transcripts of relevant coursework.

The basic coursework requirements for the CNSA and SE majors are documented in the FSU Bulletin. By submitting this form, the undersinged also agrees to the following more specific requirements:

• The students' major professor and Supervisory Committee membership are subject to the approval of the Sys-Admin Oversight Committee.
• The student must satisfy an area Field Experience Requirement. If this is not satisfied before admission, it must be satisfied before graduation. Satisfaction of the requirement will be certified by examiners accredited by the area Oversight Committee, using a Check List, which is also approved by the Oversight Committee.
• The student must attach to this application for admission a history of her/his educational and professional experience that relates to the major for which the she/he is applying. This should include:
• Details of any employment that involved software development and/or computer and network system administration. For SE, the committee is especially interested in contributions to large software systems.
• Any courses, workshops, conferences, or self-study programs the student has taken that relate to the major. Please include the date, location, description of course, and grade earned.
• Details of the student's current employment as it relates to the major.
• Any other information the student feels would help the committe make a better decision concerning admission to the major.
